marketing industry event microsite

Held annually in Toronto as the alternative to the official direct-mail industry party,
the purpose being to raise money and awareness for the Daily Bread Food Bank.

The mandate, supplied with the ‘tattoo’ of heart-and-wings, was to provoke
along the theme of ‘intensive care’, the more hyperbolic the better.

The opening animation sequence (shown below) starts with an EKG line, revealing a syncopated heart, beating. Foreshadowing detail fades in and creates depth, as wings unfold from behind the heart and beat in time with it; the banner ‘slams’ in, fragments explode out, and the theme type zooms over-the-shoulder into place.

Once the main body of the site is composed (shown above), the theme name and the navigation core have a hovering movement near the tattoo. The navigation core, a white, pulsing ‘cancer’, is revealed and exploded on rollover, displaying nav choices.

The look and feel of the site was then used for all visual aspects of the event including bar dressup.
